beard entirely yellow in male; in female, entirely yellow dorsally, but with a line of black hairs along lower third of posterior margin of compound eye, this line expanding ventrally to occupy entire width of beard at juncture with proboscis hairs underneath the proboscis yellow in male, black in female palpal hairs in male, yellow on first segment, black on second; in female, black on both segments
mesonotum evenly covered with long yellow hairs, about equal numbers of which are either erect or recumbent; these hairs increase slightly in length on posterior calli tuft of hairs in front of wings black tuft of hairs in front of haltere mostly yellow (some are black) scutellar hairs disk covered with medium length black hairs; margin with row of long black hairs ground color of legs from a distance the ground color appears to be black, but when viewed with a dissecting microscope, from an angle the surface appears to be blue black, and when viewed directly, that is from right angles, with artificial light, it appears to be very dark reddish brown; the surface is also highly reflective and where yellow hairs are present on the tibiae, reflects these as light reddish brown fore- and mid-tibiae in male, yellow haired posteriorly on lower two-thirds, on mid-tibiae a few yellow hairs also present dorsally near apex; legs entirely black haired in female hind tibiae black haired hind femora entirely black haired, including "knee" at apex
