beard black on upper third, lower two-thirds entirely yellow hairs underneath the proboscis yellow palpal hairs hairs on first segment yellow in male, black in female; hairs on second segment black in both sexes
mesonotum in male evenly covered with long yellow hairs, about equal numbers of which are either erect or recumbent; these hairs increase slighly in length on posterior calli; female similar, except hairs are golden yellow, and a plurality of them are recumbent, especially anteriorly tuft of hairs in front of wings black tuft of hairs in front of haltere mostly yellow scutellar hairs on disk medium length, recumbent, and yellow; on margin long, erect, and yellow ground color of legs from a distance the ground color appears to be black, but when viewed with a dissecting microscope, from an angle the surface appears to be blue black, and when viewed directly, that is from right angles, with artificial light, it appears to be very dark reddish brown; the surface is also highly reflective and where yellow hairs are present on the tibiae, reflects these as reddish brown fore- and mid-tibiae in male fore-tibiae yellow-haired posteriorly, mid-tibiae yellow-haired both dorsally and posteriorly; tibial hairs black in female hind tibiae black haired hind femora male with noticable but not exaggerated line of yellow hair stretching dorsally from near base to abut three fourths way to apex; long yellow hairs also present ventrally on about basal half; female similar, but with lines much reduced and hardly visible; in both sexes "knee" or apex black haired
